About Meghan

Meghan has been working at Performance Plus K9 Activity Center in Raynham, MA since April 2014 working in administrative, animal care and training roles.  Her first love is training. Jack, her first Golden Retriever, started his career in the sports of Nose Work and Competition Obedience but Meghan quickly realized they needed to take a step back and address Jack's overall sensitivities to the environments. He currently boasts CGC, NW2, SD-E and TKP titles. Meghan’s loving patience and perseverance prevailed which resulted in the titles, but most importantly, in forging a deep, trusting bond between her and Jack. Jack has since retired, but Meghan currently competes in Nose Work, Obedience, Agility, and Dock Diving with her 3 younger Wicked Good Goldens.

Meghan’s innate ability to understand canine behavior and her desire to advance her knowledge of the science aligns with PPK9’s philosophy and approach to training. In 2017, she was promoted  to instructor for all levels of pet obedience and nose work. Meghan enjoys helping people build relationships that bring out the best in their dog so they can go on to do fun, rewarding activities together. In 2019, Meghan was promoted to Head Trainer and K9 Training Manager.

Group Classes

Our group classes are designed to help you achieve a closer bond with your dog and build a more confident, balanced relationship through your daily interactions and training.  From puppy class to basic manners and beyond, Performance Plus has a class for you. Our classes are progressive and build on the skills taught in the previous classes.  Our instructors are dedicated to helping you learn how to have fun and effectively train your dog.

Stay 'n Train

Our Super Stay-n-Train Program is an immersion-learning program designed to get your dog started with the behaviors needed in order to become a well-behaved member of your family. Our program implements structure, routine, and rules into your dog’s life to rid them of their bad habits and create a new, well-mannered dog. This program is not designed for serious behavioral problems. A minimum stay of 2 weeks is required to allow your dog the time needed for behavior changes to occur.

Private Lessons

Some dogs and/or handlers learn better in a quieter less active environment.  One-on-One instruction for any venue is available.  The beauty of private training is that you can modify the pace of the instruction to suit your needs.  Since your dog is the only one being trained, the goals are customized to your pet.

Day School

Our Doggie Day School Program is designed to provide a maximum amount of learning while allowing your dog to spend evenings and weekends at home. Using science-based, positive reinforcement training methods, we will teach your dog how to behave better at home and out in the world.  This program is not designed for serious behavioral problems.

Scent Work Training

Dogs need mental stimulation to live a fully enriched life. Nose Work is a newer companion dog sport that is based on the methodology used to train working detection dogs. Dogs sniff day in and day out. Here they learn to sniff with a purpose and you will learn to see things from the dog’s point of view…his nose! Classes and Private Lessons are available.

Behavioral Consultations

Does your dog react to other dogs, people, sounds, smells or other stimuli in a disturbing manner? Do you feel anxious, scared, and at a loss for what to do? Book a behavioral consult. We are now offering behavioral consults and private lessons in-home or in-school. Since your dog is the only one being trained, the goals are customized to your pet.
